Most players start with 22–24g steel-tip darts; higher tungsten percentages give a slimmer barrel for the same weight. A sisal bristle board is the standard for steel-tip, hung with the bullseye 5ft 8in (173cm) from the floor and the oche 7ft 9¼in (237cm) from the board face. Soft-tip darts go with electronic boards.
