How print on demand works, in plain English

With print on demand, nothing is made until a customer orders it. A platform or printer prints the item and posts it, usually under your shop's name, and you keep the difference between what you charge and what they charge you. Platforms connect to your own shop (Shopify, Etsy and the like); marketplaces host the shop for you and pay you a cut.

The duck's rule of thumb: order a sample before you sell, check where the item is printed so UK customers aren't hit by long waits or import charges, and remember that selling regularly counts as trading, so keep your records for HMRC. Prices, products and fees change often, so we don't list them here; always check the provider's own site.
