"Refurbished" should mean tested, cleaned and covered by a warranty; "used" or "spares or repair" may mean none of those. Check the grade, warranty length and returns policy before you buy. Under the Consumer Rights Act, goods bought from a business must be of satisfactory quality, which gives you more protection than a private sale.
The duck's rule of thumb: check battery health on laptops, shutter counts on cameras and printhead condition on plotters, and wipe your data before trading anything in. Prices, stock and trade-in quotes change, so check with each business.
